Field Trips

At West Madison we believe that a field trip is an extension of instruction students gain in the classroom. All students have the opportunity to go on a number of field trips here at our school. On the more expensive trips, we offer scholarships and fundraiser opportunities.

K-2 students go to Tate Farms, Sci-Quest and a variety of performances put on by schools in the Huntsville/Madison area. Starting in grade 3 students attend trips such as the Nutcracker and Helen Keller's birthplace, Ivy Green.

Fourth Grade students study Alabama History and are able to tour our capitol, Montgomery Alabama as well as study the life of Native Americans at Burritt Museum.

Fifth Grade students have the opportunity to visit Camp McDowell Environmental Center. The activities at this center give students a hands-on look at the 5th grade science standards for Alabama.  Click on the following link in order to view the many exciting experiences your child will have at Camp McDowell  http://www.cmec.dioala.org/Planning%20Your%20Trip/classes.html.

In Sixth grade, students have the opportunity to attend Space Camp. At Space Camp, students learn all about space. They take command of a space flight simulation and go through similar training activities astronauts go through.  The following link will take you to the Space Camp website to view the opportunities offered  http://www.spacecamp.com/
